Deep Tissue Massage:

Deep Tissue massage is also called deep muscle therapy or deep tissue therapy.  It is a generic term for bodywork techniques that deeply work into the muscles and connective tissue for the release of chronic aches and pains.

Myofascial Release:

Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion.

Trigger Point Work is also known by its generic term,  Neuromuscular Therapy  (NMT):

Trigger point massage utilizes ischemic compression of individual areas of hypersensitivity (knots) in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia. These trigger points are defined by their referral of pain to distant locations in muscles, connective tissues, and organs.

Swedish Massage:

This style is typically referred to as "classic Massage."  Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in people with osteoarthritis of the knee.

Bodywork:

Bodywork is a general term for practices involving touch and active or passive movement in which the practitioner uses manual techniques to promote health and healing in the recipient.

Sports Massage:

Sports massage is applied to athletes to help them train and perform free of pain and injuries. Massage therapists blend classic Swedish strokes with such methods as compression, pressure-point therapy, cross-fiber friction, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy.

Therapeutic Touch (or Energy Work):

Premised on the notion that human beings are energy in the form of a field, energy work releases "blockages" that may present as physical manifestations.  In a state of health, the energy field flows freely to balance mind, body, and spirit.

Cupping:

Cupping is a technique in which glass cups are heated from the inside with fire to create a vacuum and then placed on the afflicted area of the body. Cupping helps pull stagnant blood out of an area, making room for fresh, oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood to replenish the tissues and accelerate the healing process. When removed, they usually leave a round, red bruise behind.

Aromatherapy

Massage includes the use of fragrant essential oils.  Different oils are used for different therapeutic benefits.

KinesoTaping:

K-tape can be applied virtually anywhere there’s soft tissue or muscle pain. Some of the most common injuries that benefit from kinesiology tape include:

  • Acute soft tissue issues (muscle sprains, ligament strains, and hematomas)

  • Joint swelling

  • Low muscle tone or muscle weakness

  • Systemic conditions (fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus)

  • Tendinopathies
